Signalator offers a number of various trading signals. For the same currency pair we offer several different signals varying by a number of trades a month, levels of TP and SL, drawdown levels and by many other values. Albeit the Signalator website offers a great number of pages with detailed results and descriptions, you will find the following page extremely useful for setting lot sizes and for better understanding of what to expect from the signals we offer.

Most pages available on the Signalator website provide the detailed historical information. However, there is a little information on what you shall expect in the near future from the trading based on the Signalator signals and services. We are constantly working on improving of our trading performance, signals efficiency and equity balance growth stability. Market conditions dramatically change over time.

Paradigms of trading that worked perfectly back in 2008 may not, and usually do not, work in an acceptable way nowadays. That is the reason we have to change signals every 18-30 months. In recent years, we were replacing the old signals with the new ones. This practice was not quite popular among our customers. We believe the best way to improve signals and to make customers happy is to "upgrade" the signals.

Any kind of trading involves a number of rules a trader must follow to be successful. There are three main concerns about trading: when to enter the market, when to leave the market and how much to invest. Trading the forex market you have an option to limit your potential losses by using a certain level of a Stop Loss (under certain market conditions, you may receive a loss much bigger than an anticipated SL level). You may also automatically close a position if the market reaches a certain level in a desired direction.

Market's uncertainty and volatility are the things behind your potential profit on the one hand, and are the reasons of your possible losses - on the other hand. If the market is too volatile, you may want to have bigger values of SL for example. To withstand any "noise" movements. For example, in October 2008 the monthly volatility for the EUR USD currency pair was 1,800 pips (1.415 - 1.235). In October 2016 (8 years later), the volatility is only 400 pips (1.125-1.085). There is no doubt you would want to have various settings for trading for each of these two periods.

From July 2017 every time we introduce major updates, upgrades or changes to the offered signals, we will be updating the current version of a signal. So that you are able to adapt changes to your trading style. Use the following information to update levels of risk you apply, to alter a number of lots you open. For each signal you will find estimate figures. You should use the following values as a basis within the normal trading. Whilst trading is within these boundaries, you should not worry about current trading results.

Why SL / TP Values Are So Important?

A great many of traders use risk-based open lot sizing calculation. The most common is 3%. What does it mean? It means your the maximum loss you agree to receive with a position closed by SL must equal an X% of your initial deposit. In case of 3%, it is the 3% you risk with each trade. As we use pips as a SL, an amount of lots to open will vary significantly for various SL levels.

Let us assume you trade the EURUSD currency pair with $2,000 deposit and 2% as a maximum risk.

Example 1. Open a new position with 25 pips SL. 2% from $2,000 is $40. Therefore, to receive $40 as a maximum loss with 25 pips SL, you need to open 0.16 lots (0.16*25 = 40 pips).

Example 2. Now we will open a new trade with 50 pips SL. To receive $40 loss, we need to open 0.08 lots.

Example 3. If we decide to open 5 trades with 5 pips SL each and all five trades would close with a SL. In total, we receive a 25 pips loss. But if you used a risk based lot sizing, then your net loss would be 9.5%. If you compare a 25 pips loss in the example 1 to the example 3, you will see, the difference in percentage of deposit is very significant.

When you trade, it is very important to know what a trading style of a trader is. And SL / TP value is one of the values you may easily distinguish and understand. You may use the table above to monitor levels of SL / TP currently used with the offered signals. Moreover, this information is available on a dedicated page of every signal.

Questions and Answers

Q. Why do you change signals over time?
A. Market conditions are constantly changes. We have to adapt our trading style to the changing market. When market is moving fast, you may easily get 100-200 pips profit. On the other hand, when market is very volatile with small net changes, you are looking for 30-50 pips movements.

Q. Why do you need to tell customer about these changes?
A. We are constantly working on signals performance and stability. We do make changes and amendments to our trading on a regular basis. However, sometimes, the changes are so major, that we can't change the whole paradigm of trading without letting our customers know about it.

Q. How often do you change / upgrade the signals?
A. Everyday improvements are implemented on a weekly basis. Major / fundamental changes take place once in 18-30 months. This mostly depends on the market conditions.

Q. Current version signal results are out of the anticipated results, why?
A. The above table provides an estimate of signals trading results. Average monthly profit, average number of trades a month and drawdown - are brought for informational purposes. You shall consider these values as expected normal trading boundaries. No one likes losses. However, if you see, we expect 250 pips drawdown for a certain signal, then you should not worry if you receive 200 pips drawdown trading with this signal.
